Community guidelines
Version 2026-10-11 · effective from October 11, 2026
Alter Platform works because people can trust each other. These rules apply to everything you do on Alter Platform – in your profile, projects, ideas, invitations and messages. They form part of the terms of use.
1. Respect
- No insults, threats, intimidation or harassment – including in private messages.
- No incitement and no degrading people because of their origin, skin colour, nationality, religion, beliefs, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age or other characteristics.
- No stalking: if someone is not interested, do not keep pressing them – not via other projects, new accounts or other channels.
- Do not publish private information about others (e.g. address, phone number, documents) without their consent.
2. Honesty
- Do not pretend to be someone else – neither another person nor a company or organisation.
- No fake profiles and no invented qualifications, references or achievements.
- Describe projects truthfully: what the goal is, what stage it is at, whether and how contributions are paid. Unpaid collaboration must be clearly recognisable as such.
- No fraud: no advance-fee requests, no asking people to pay to take part in a project, no pyramid schemes, no dubious investment or crypto offers.
3. No spam
- No mass or repeated unwanted messages, friend requests or project invitations.
- No advertising for products or services unrelated to a specific collaboration.
- No automated accounts, scripts or bots.
- Respect other people's settings (e.g. "only friends may message me") and do not try to get around them.
4. Confidentiality
What is entrusted to you in a chat or project team is confidential. Do not pass on private messages, files or internal project information without the consent of those concerned. Reporting to us or to authorities is excepted.
Alter Platform is no substitute for a non-disclosure agreement. Share truly sensitive trade secrets only once you have made an agreement.
5. Prohibited content
Prohibited in particular:
- depictions of child sexual abuse and any sexualisation of minors;
- terrorist propaganda, glorification of violence and calls to commit crimes;
- incitement to hatred and other criminal hate content;
- insult, defamation and slander;
- pornographic content;
- offers of illegal goods or services, including illegal employment;
- malware, phishing and other attacks on users or systems;
- content that infringes other people's copyright, trade mark or personality rights.
6. Intellectual property
Upload only texts, images and files that you created yourself or are allowed to use. Respect your team members' contributions: agree early and in writing who owns the work results.
7. Safety
Never share your password. Alter Platform never asks for your password by message. Be careful if someone asks you for money, identity documents or login details, and report such requests.
8. How to report violations
Report content and profiles using "Report" on the page concerned or the notice form. The more precise the notice, the faster we can act: give the link to the content and explain why it is illegal or breaks these rules. You can also block others at any time.
Report only in good faith. Anyone who repeatedly submits manifestly unfounded notices may be temporarily excluded from the reporting feature.
If there is an immediate danger to life or limb, contact the police (110 in Germany) or emergency services (112) immediately.
9. What we do
Depending on how serious a violation is, we hide content, remove it, suspend accounts temporarily or delete them. We give the person concerned the reasons for every measure. Decisions are made by people. Where there are indications of a criminal offence that endangers the life or safety of persons, we inform the competent authorities.
10. Objection
If you disagree with a decision – whether it concerns your content or your notice – reply within six months to alterplatform@gmail.com and explain why. We will review the decision again and tell you the result. You can also turn to the Digital Services Coordinator (Bundesnetzagentur) or go to court.
